Lets revisit one of our first event, InnovFest 2013. InnovFest 2013 is one of the largest technology events brought together by NUS Enterprise. It was a 3-day event on innovation and enterprise-related activities that boost activity amongst industry players, entrepreneurs, SMEs, and others.
One of the popular plugins from Jublia was tasked to automate the private networking aspect of the event. The event organisers wanted to facilitate one-to-one business partnering sessions by matching mutual attendees and automatically arrange 30-minute meetings for them in a reserved quiet meeting space that facilitates focused and undisturbed discussions. In addition, Jublia also helped with the attendee-exhibitor interaction by facilitating fixed meetings at the exhibitors booths. Exhibitors like Singtel L!feLabs and Covidien used it extensively to set meetings.
Having a large number of attendees from a varied mix of industries and professions, InnovFest was crucial in testing the effectiveness of our relevance algorithm, RevRank.
It was delightful to realise that approximately 80% of the attendees were present for their meetings, and many lasted for much longer than the stipulated 30minutes timeslot itself when I spoke to the person who was handling the meeting schedules at the entrance to the private networking area.
This definitely shows that pre-arranged private networking can drive valuable engagement during an event for attendees.
Apart from that, the learning aspect of collaborating with an event organiser has helped us tremendously. It lead to a UI overhaul to bring the best experience for our users.
